PROCESS

BUDGET | No one likes to talk about it, yet it's the most crucial part of the discovery phase. Our goal is to design a space for you that is beautiful, livable, and also within your means.

TIMELINE | Good design takes time. And while timelines do vary, an average project takes 1-3 years.

DREAM AESTHETIC | Now we're getting into the fun part! Tell us about or show us some of your favorite spaces. They don't have to be exactly what you want, but it will help us to get a sense of your style.

PERSONAL DETAILS | Have kids or pets? Great, so do we! Let's look for performance fabrics for that sofa. Do you live a vegan lifestyle and want to focus on vegan and sustainable furnishings? We love that! Letting us know about those special details in your life will help us source appropriately. If it's important to you, it's important to us.

PROPOSAL | The consultation is complete, it's a great fit and we're all ready to move forward with the project. From here, we'll put together a proposal that includes a detailed outline of our scope of work, a design fee estimate, and our design agreement. Once the agreement is signed, we get to work.

DETAILED FEE ESTIMATE | We work on an hourly fee. Why hourly? It goes back to our philosophy. We want you to know how your money is being spent. We keep a detailed accounting of our time spent on your project so you know you are only paying for our time. After ironing out a detailed scope of work, we'll prepare a breakdown of an estimate of hours.

CUSTOM BUDGET GUIDE | By now, we'll know enough about your project to put together a budget guide. And as the project progresses, we use this as a guide when sourcing.

MEETING OF THE MINDS | We'll schedule a site visit for us to take pictures of the existing space and to take detailed measurements. Then we'll begin working on your design schemes and floorplans. We'll meet with you to review the initial design and from there make any tweaks or adjustments to the design based on your feedback. Once the final design is approved, we will finalize the drawings and the contractor/trade scope of work for bidding.

PRELIMINARY DESIGN | Here is where the fun begins! We’ll put together design concepts + layouts to review with you to make sure we’re aligned. Feedback is important so that we can confidently move forward with sourcing + selections.

DESIGN | The preliminary design is approved and we’ve begun selecting actual furnishings + materials for your space. We’ll meet with you to share our designs and iron out the details, making revisions as needed for final design approval. Remember time is money (yours!) so making decisions in a timely manner ensure the project timeline stays on track.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT | Now that the design is approved, we'll meet with trades at the project site to review the final plans, go over any unforseen road blocks and continue to monitor the project with site visits as needed. Quantity of site visits will be determined during the contract phase.

PROCUREMENT | As the trades get to work, we begin procurement of all furnishings, fixtures + accessories (yes we’re thinking that far ahead!) We keep a detailed schedule of all tracking + shipments and troubleshoot any vendor issues as they arise.

INSTALLATION + styling | The trades have finished and all of your orders have arrived at the receiving warehouse. Installations can take between 1-5 days depending on the scale of the project. We ask for clients to be off site on the day of install. There are a lot of moving parts between the movers, placing every piece of furniture and accessories, unpacking/unwrapping etc. We function at our best if we can just focus on the install,

PHOTOGRAPHY | We have the privilege of working with some very talented photographers who are absolute pros at architectural and interior photography. After the install, we'll have them lined up to take pictures of the space for our portfolio and possibly future publication.

THE REVEAL | On the day of the reveal, we'll walk thru the space with you, explaining any additional details and answering any questions you may have. If the project has required any trade work (i.e. a renovation, or speciality installs like millwork or wallpaper), we'll create a detailed punch list as we go through and rectify any discrepancies in an expedited manner. There is always a bit of follow up post reveal, but this is typically where our design journey with you comes to an end... until your next project!
